--------------------------

Celebrate the Mexican army’s May 5, 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War with this Angel Island Potluck BBQ for racers, cruisers and ferry riders.

Don't have your own yacht? No problem, contact Director & Cruise Committee Chair Drew Clark to coordinate a ride with one of our members cruising over (if space is available.) Or come by ferry.

Please RSVP if possible, to help us plan.

Here's the plan for the day:

  • Cruisers and racers: Find a slip at the dock in Ayala Cove. There is a slip fee so be prepared with $15 cash in case the ranger is not there.
  • Everyone: Meet at our reserved picnic area: Ayala Cove - Hill Site (Group Picnic Area C).

  • We have organized a short hike around the island, about 5 miles, which should take about 2 hours. Lots of interesting and fun things to check out at various points along the way, so bring your phone/camera and a bottle of water.
  • Around noon we'll start up the BBQ in the pit. We'll bring along charcoal, lighter, etc. The racers will arrive around 1ish so we'll catch them up as they finish and head over to our picnic area.
  • The BBQ is potluck, so bring something to cook or eat and a side to share. TYC will provide some snacks and refreshments so you don't have to lug all of that across the lawn.
  • We'll plan to leave late afternoon (4PM or 5PM) or whenever you get the urge to head back to your home base.
  • See you there!

Summary:

10:30 am: Suggested arrival for cruisers; slips can fill up.
Noon - BBQ fire lit.
1 pm or so: Racers arrive.
After lunch: Hike around island.
