Watch the huge, blood-red full moon rise above Mount Diablo from the perfect viewing point - TYC's deck.
See its details close up through an astronomical telescope or stabilizing binoculars (provided), or bring your own.
Let the moon hit your eye like a big pizza pie (Papa Murphy's thin crust), along with two gourmet salads from Ruth Fultz: Classic Caesar with homemade dressing and classic east coast antipasti salad with roasted peppers, chickpeas, salami, and more.
This is the last total lunar eclipse visible here until 2018. And it's a doozy. Totality begins at 7:11 pm, just a quarter hour past moonrise (6:55 pm) with the moon huge on the horizon.
And what a huge moon! It's the closest approach to the Earth all year, so it will be 13% larger than the eclipse back in April.
