All members are invited to this annual picnic, Saturday, Sept. 19 on Angel Island.  Food and drink are free to members. Bring a side dish or dessert to share.  Picnic starts at noon.

Three ways to come:

  • Cruise your boat over (and racers can vie for the Commodore's Annual Cruise perpetual trophy in a self-timed race)
  • Catch a ride with a TYC skipper
  • Angel Island Ferry

Skippers, come over early Saturday (by 10:30 or 11) and grab a slip.  Or spend the weekend at a mooring in Ayala Cove, then dinghy into the dock.

Any way you come, you'll enjoy the picnic and this fabulous island.  Here are some things to do:

Bike around the island:  Bike the five mile paved Perimeter Road around the island.  Bikes are available for rental on the island.

The Visitor Center, near the picnic area, features exhibits and two 20-minute films on the island.  One, the award-winning Carved in Silence, tells the moving history of the Immigration Station.

Immigration Station is open from 11 to 3.  Often called the Ellis Island of the West, the station is a historic and cultural site of the Bay Area, particularly the Chinese community.  Your visit will be an enlightening and moving experience.  About 1.5 mile walk from the picnic area.

Camp Reynolds features historic buildings, including a restored Victorian officers' home usually open and docented on weekends.  You can walk down to the water and enjoy full views of the Gate and San Francisco.  About 1.5 mile walk from the picnic area.
